How To Attach Ceiling Register

Drill a pigsty on either side of the register. Mark the holes on the ceiling with a pencil, drill and install a drywall anchor in each location. Secure the register with screws into the ballast.

Some people paint the ceiling and the annals so it blends in better (and covers the screw heads).

  • I didn't have much luck. The metal tab of the vent doesn't overlap the drywall by plenty to agree a drywall screw. What I need is a prune of sorts that would push the vent up from the drywall.

  • You could always mucilage it.

  • A contractor I had doing some other work simply put a 2x2 strip on peak of the drywall and screwed into that. But it was only possible since we already had a pigsty in ceiling for a dryer vent.

I cut thin strips of cardboard (pocket-sized enough to fit in spiral hole) and poked them in the holes. Screws tightened nicely. All you are trying to do is requite the spiral something to hold to. Don't overfill or pack the pigsty.

I found some more registers that the previous homeowner completed stripped the screws on. I put a glob of JB weld on the problematic hole, completely roofing it. Came back the next twenty-four hour period and drilled a small hole through it and advisedly screwed in the register. I was skeptical but it held very well and tight! On another register I drilled another hole into the canvas metal to solve the same trouble. BTW, I highly recommend a socket and not screwdriver for removing/tightning.

I had this problem as well, I installed a couple of 'foliage springs' on a plastic annals and it stays in place very well. Here's a link to a video I made for information technology.
